Words their Way spelling
We have started our word study groups. We have five groups and word study activities to do when they are not meeting with Mrs. HP. Brain Breaks are transitions – students move to their next
session area and use washroom/fill water bottles. When not in a Working with
Words (WWW) session, students are in one they have selected for that day from:
Literacy Stations (LS) (which includes Working with Words practice)
Writers’ Workshop (WW)
Readers’ Workshop (RW)
Independent Studies (IS) – reading/researching non-fiction materials related to current social studies (Canadian regions, recipe books, historical events, famous people, textbook, newspapers); focus on non-fiction material related to our Humanities Studies
We also reflect on our work throughout the week:
1) What station we did
2) What we accomplished or learned
3) What our goal is for the next time
